The caption reads in today's Sunday Telegraph...

She may be one of Australia's most sought-after makeup artists yet Becca Gilmartin's real passion - and specialty- is body art. Beccas skills are in high demand and she has worked with the likes of Tara Moss, Dannii Minogue, Kimbra, Megan Washington and a slew of other global music, film and TV stars and models.

Beccas blog TwoSix & Brush has become the go to blog for makeup artists and becca lectures to sellout crowds both here and the US"

I am super proud to be part of Kristian Taylor Woods exhibition 'High Scrollers'. Not only have I been the makeup artist on this project... I also  managed to get super talented Amelia Axton and Gina Cartwright to come and body paint me for my own shot. Its the first time I have been body painted and I have to say... I should do this more often. Chefs eat their own food... makeup artists do their own makeup... I should experience body art more so I know how it feels!

Seeing this article in the Sunday Telegraph today bought something home for me... I haven't given any love to www.twosixandbrush.com in waaaaayyyyyy tooooooo loooong. I have no excuses but good reason... I have been a busy bee......:

I have been finishing off my first book 'We The Painted' that also includes the written version of Makeup Artist Bootcamp! A book that will have you explore MINDSET and have you do practical activity to improve you makeup confidence, accuracy, creativity and brush skills. Due out in Sept... you can secure your pre sale at www.beccagilmartin.com/store/.... The next Mua Bootcamps are being held in Melbourne and Albury in June.

I directed makeup for Bondi Bather show at MBFWA... using the delicious and newly launched Verivera cosmetics. The brief was 'Bondi Hipster meets Harajuku'... for Bondi Bathers collaboration with Hello Kitty... I think we did well! Sponsored also by Swarovski Crystals I pre-made all the face pieces so my team could just stick them on on the day... will be blogging about it soon. A fun show with the real Hello Kitty present all the way from Tokyo!

I got to work with my A Team for Vulkan Magazine - Thom Kerr, Iggy and Sarah M Birchley - we turned uber model Bambi into a 70s goddess for the Vulkan cover... complete with faux freckles and the amazing wig created by Iggy... this was a fun day and one of my favourite editorials to date.

I spent some time on main stage at Salon Melbourne for Bodyography to talk about contouring and their new, delicious Silk Creme Foundations. Yum. Not long to talk about a complex and hot topic... however being able to dispel myths about the crazy perception of what contouring seems to take these days thanks to Instagram and the Kardashians... I was happy to hear that Bodyography sold out of the products I used right after the demo! Win!

Most recently... I have become a 2015 Finalist in the A B I A S Makeup Artist of the Year!! I am way more nervous than last year... lets be honest. I am amongst talented artists in this category and consider myself a winner for making it into the finals two years in a row!

Scattered throughout my busy calendar have been MUA Bootcamps throughout Australia... with more to come! I have been to Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Toowoomba, Central Coast, Radelaide and soon to come... Melbourne, Sydney, Albany, Townsville, Los Angeles and possibly even Austin, Texas! I couldn't be more excited for the book to come out. Not only will it make this unique form of Makeup training accessible to more people... Makeup Artists will finally understand that this course has nothing to do with body art... or learning new tricks - it's about revolutionising the way you approach your career ... it's like you come to MUA Bootcamp to unlearn and then build from a fresh palette with a whole new range of tools. It's all the tools I use for myself to create a career I love... and can't wait to share it with more and more artists.

Now that 'We The Painted' is drawing to a close and ready for production... may I say... my inner stationary and font nerd is in heaven.... I will be back breathing life into TwoSix & Brush as normal. I can't wait to discuss some of the topics that have been popping up during Mua Bootcamps too... one of the most prevalent ones being the question I get in every bootcamp - 'how do you become creative?' This is something I talk about in the book but can't wait to share about it here too.

I didn't wake up this morning thinking I would have to turn down interviews with Ch10 and Ch7 because I am out of Sydney... Doh!   I need to remind myself the reason I am up here is to finish W E T H E P A I N T E D as well as prepare for upcoming MUA Bootcamps and some overseas work. Great problems. I now have a life filled with great problems. Isn't that the goal?
